Danger Slurs
Target Grades 6-12
Danger Slurs is a two part exercise that focuses on lip slurs for brass and chord intonation for woodwinds. The levels increase by difficulty from 1 to 5 including brass lip slurs, woodwind intonation and percussion. The percussion parts feature a 4 part Marimba exercise that can help introduce percussionists to four mallet technique. Please note that brass instruments use valve or slide positions for the lips slurs, however, French horn players should change fingerings accordingly. A Director’s part for the Yamaha Harmony Director is also included.
Danger Note – In this exercise the Danger Notes are referenced with a downward arrow meaning the player has a third of a chord. Players should lower the pitch of the third whenever a Danger Note marking occurs.
