Danger Scales 2

Danger Scales 2 are a continuation of the Danger Scales 1.  Although they are labeled as High School, these scales can be used as early as 8th grade or before.   They are designed to be the intermediate series, used with a high school second band or advanced middle school band.

Scales Included – Bb Major, Eb Major, Ab Major, F Major, C Major, Db Major, G minor, C minor, D minor, and Chromatic Scale.

Danger Notes – All Danger Notes are marked with an arrow ▼ in the score and student part.

Transposing Instruments – Definitions of transposing instruments are no longer included in this series.

Fingerings – Fingerings are no longer included in this series; however, they can reference fingerings in Danger Chromatics 1.

Percussion – Students should begin with mallets; however, adding the snare and bass drum parts will add rhythmic stability while working on fundamental rhythms.   The Snare Drum Part adds a base line to help developing percussionists work on their rolls and counting.

Chords – At the end of every scale pattern, a V-I cadence will help develop tone, balance, and key understanding.

Advanced Octaves – Several instruments will include cue notes for additional octaves.  You may assign these when you feel they are ready or ask students to self-promote themselves.
