Danger Chart– Appropriate for all Grade Levels
This is the fundamental document for the series.
The Danger Chart focuses on the four most common band keys of Bb, Eb, Ab, F. Each of the Scales includes “Extensions” to help cover the Danger Notes that are missed outside of the traditional eight note scale. The extensions will also help to develop range and flexibility, especially in brass and clarinet players.
Rehearsal Tips – Begin with the “Bracket.” After successfully playing the bracket with all the correct notes, begin to add the “Extensions.” You do not have to add the entire bracket at one time. Keep in mind the students have the “Danger Note” marked with an arrow ▼.
Scores – There are two copies of the score. The score contains all the scales with the student fingerings. The Full Score includes the percussion part however does not contain the student fingerings.
Percussion – Students should begin with the mallet part. The mallet part is designed to help the mallet player move around the keyboard. Each measure outlines the major or minor chord based on the scale degree. The snare and bass drum parts focus on snare drum techniques, and the bass drum part is written to help move the ensemble, especially when leading to danger notes.
